Neemrana Stepwell and 10 Parrots | Stepwell Photos

An early morning photo of the Neemrana stepwell and 10 green parrots.

If you've looked through our stepwell photos you've probably realised that Neemrana is one of my favourites. I've been there four times to see it in different light. This photo was taken in February 2018.

Neemrana never disappoints. 9 storeys deep and slowly crumbling away, descending into the dank lower depths of Neemrana, edging your way along narrow ledges, it feels like a journey into another world.

Hundreds of parrots make their nests in cracks in the masonry. In the morning the light changes quite quickly, this was taken about 9 in the morning just as the parrots were emerging. I count more than 10 in this photo.
